    The Greatest love of all

Now that I’ve encouraged you to get rid of all the toxic, fake friends and annoying co-workers in your life you may be feeling lonely! Know what you should do? Get a dog! Or a cat! Or some sort of pet that will make you feel like the greatest person in the entire world. There is a reason why people love their animals so much. Because they bring us so much joy without a lot of hassle. A little hassle but not as much as say…kids! They rarely talk back, are always excited to see

    Toxic is toxic

Toxic people need to be removed from your life for you to be the best and happiest you can be. It doesn’t matter who they are. Family, lifelong friend? It doesn’t matter. If you have gotten to a place where they are adding stress to your life instead of joy, then it is time for them to go. Don’t just wipe people out without a discussion first but if you’ve tried to relate how you feel and they either don’t get it or don’t seem to care…then you need to move on. My mother was o

    You Do YOU!

A sad fact that you have to accept at some point is that not everybody is going to like you. I don’t know how that is possible either. I always think to myself…I’m a fantastic friend. I am loyal and dedicated, a good listener, and do whatever I can to make my friends feel special. Not to mention, I am a hoot and pretty darn delightful as well. Who couldn’t love all that? But alas, there are some weirdo’s who don’t want to spend time with me. You know what? That is okay. They

    The people YOU choose

It’s been said that one of the main factors to happiness is choosing the right person to spend it with. With it being the anniversary of the day I got married, it’s a good time to discuss how important the relationships in our lives are and who we choose to spend our time with. I consider myself to be extremely lucky. I have a man who puts me first. He usually goes along with just about anything I want (except that boat) and in turn I try to make sure he has everything he wan

    New start...new friends

As we finish up "new beginnings" week, it may be a good time to assess the friendships you have in your life. Are they supportive and there when you need them most? Do they encourage you and add to your life? Or are they always taking and creating drama in your life? Now is the perfect time to figure out who you should keep in your life and the type of people you want to add to your go to group. As one of my favorite songs says; "I hate some fake friends so I had to switch up

    Mindful parenting

I don’t talk too much about parenting because I am not a parent but I do hear things. I know that a lot of you have crazy mornings trying to get everyone ready and out the door for school. I know you have mom guilt about things you are or are not doing for/with the kids. As the first week of school has started, this is the best time to revamp schedules and how things run in the house. You’ve had a few days to see how things are going and can analyze what needs improvement and

    Learn new things!

When was the last time you learned something new? As we continue on new beginnings week and the start of school it's a good time to ask if there is something you've been wanting to learn. Or is there something that you have just been interested in that you haven't made time for? Are you fascinated with history but haven't gotten to the library yet to take out some books on periods that peak your interest? Or would you like to start playing some word games, like crossword puzz

    New Beginnings!

There is just something about the start of the school year that signals a time for new beginnings. It's nostalgic for us adults as we remember our horror or excitement that a new school year was upon us. It reminds us that we can start fresh as well. It's almost like New Year's Day, only in September. It's a great time to assess where you are and where you want to go. Are you the type of parent you thought you would be? Are you better or worse than what you imagined? Are you

    Long Term Happiness

I posted an article on the group page about how instant gratification doesn’t lead to lasting happiness. I think we all know that on some level. We all get caught up in the moment. We want to enjoy life, right now. And we are hardwired biologically to do seek instant gratification due to the evolution. It’s a survival instinct. We do want to enjoy our lives as much as possible but we have to think about our future somewhat. Enjoy the moment…yes, but what will bring you long l

    Don't give up!

When it comes to a goal you are pursuing you already know you must give it your all. Timelines are good for certain aspects of your goal but they shouldn’t be set in stone. Let me play out a scenario for you. You’ve been working at your goal, putting in the work and doing all that you can to be successful. It’s been hard, really hard. You love what you are doing but maybe not seeing the results you had hoped for…yet. It’s tempting to quit. It’s tempting to just say, oh…it did

    Instant Gratification- relationships

I saw this quote somewhere one day and had a sign made up of it. It is to remind me that happiness isn't always about doing what makes you happy all the time. But you have decide what needs confronting in order to make your happiness happen for you. It's an action and it is elusive if you don't keep working for it. Mostly it reminds me of the relationships in our lives. Is there something going on with a loved one that isn't what you hoped it would be. A problem that has crep

    Fight temptation!

There probably isn’t any more dangerous form of instant gratification than when it comes to food. You’ve been trying to eat healthy….maybe lose a few pounds and someone brings donuts into work! Can you resist? It depends. First, is your favorite donut in the mix? If not, then walk away. It’s really not worth it. If it is your favorite, then you have a decision to make. Is it worth undoing all the hard work you’ve been doing? Were you able to resist more tempting treats only t

    Instant gratification myth!

We all want life to be easy. We all want to be comfortable. No one ever wants to second guess themselves and make hard decisions that make us uneasy. But the ironic part is we must get out of our comfort zone in order to make the most out of life. It’s annoying but true. When I think of the term instant gratification it has a negative connotation to me. Because it means it is some sort of shortcut. It means you are going for the easy, comfortable path instead of the one that

    Embrace the wisdom

There is a lot to dislike about getting older. We don’t look the same, we don’t feel the same and time seems to go even faster. But we have learned so much over the years. We know who we are and what we want. We don’t care what other people think about us anymore. We are ourselves and live exactly the way we want and should have always done. We couldn’t have gotten here without the trials and tribulations we have all gone through. It’s a necessary evil. We all probably have s

    Embrace the wrinkles and sagginess???

Bleh! What the hell is that? Oh my! It’s me…raw! It looks like a road map for a cosmetic surgeon about to go in. But this is me. This is what I look like now without any help. I don’t like what I see in the mirror a lot of the time. But that is what make-up and hair dye is for! There are some things that make-up doesn’t help with though. Is there a way we can embrace these things and accept them into our lives? Let’s see! There is not much I can do about those lines on my for

    Walk through the door!

I was listening to a podcast yesterday and I got such great information and clarification from it I had to share it with you. It was the Goal Digger podcast with Jenna Kutcher. She had a guest on and they were discussing when you have a door open for you... you just have to go for it. Yessss! That is it. Just walk through the door. The most valuable information I got from this is that you won’t always and more than likely won’t know the path to take once you get on the other

    No More Excuses!

In the article I was talking about yesterday which can still be found on the group page is one woman who is the token Debbie downer of the group. In the midst of all these women telling their amazing stories of how they took a chance and changed their lives for the better is a woman hiding behind her excuses. She talks about how it’s easy for certain women in the article (Melinda Gates/Candace Bushnell) to change their lives because they have money and privilege. These ladies

    Embracing your age

It’s something that is very difficult to do since this society places so much value on youth. It seems kind of backwards when you think about it. Shouldn’t we want to get to a place where we know what we want and we are no longer afraid to go for it? A place where we finally feel like we know who we are and what makes us happy? Alas, just another thing that seems mixed up in this crazy world we live in. I read a story about women over 50 who really came into their best lives.

    Be kind to your friends

As we wrap up kindness week there is something that should be automatic isn’t. Be kind to your friends! We all love a little gossip here and there but why do we feel the need to do it at the expense of our own friends? I have found that in a group of girls there is always something being said about the one girl who isn’t in the group. Maybe I just have a bad group? But it has been with several groups I have been apart of. I find that this is more of an issue with women than i

Being kind to those who are unkind

I saw a news story yesterday that showed a young girl posting a video to Instagram putting her small dog inside a dryer and turning it on for about 5 seconds. After she hit the power button, she proceeded to bust out laughing and then let the dog out saying she was sorry to the pup. She wasn’t sorry. This was a very intentional act and she found it hysterically funny. It makes me so sad and sick to my stomach. She is being investigated and I hope they find a better home for t
