It's all on you!

If life isn't working out the way you want it to, dare I say, it's on you? Do you think about how you could be happy but you just aren't making it happen? Do you think you have bad luck and nothing ever works out for you? Yes, that was me just a few short years ago.

I woke up everyday with the anticipation of getting back to my bed to sleep some more. I got ready for work with dread because I knew I was going to have to work with people I didn't want to see. I had to get into a car I wasn't crazy about and eat foods I didn't necessarily like in my never ending quest to lose weight. I knew I would treated unfairly through the day because I was always being treated unfairly in my mind. I came to expect it. And therein lied one of the biggest problems. I had low expectations therefore I got lackluster results. I was in my chosen field so I never stopped to reassess if this was what I really wanted anymore. Or consider what I could do to make things better. It was always someone else's fault. I was so tired. And unhappy.

Then I got to a point where I decided to go all in. I was determined to do whatever it took to bring more happiness in my life. Whether it be letting go of limiting beliefs, taking a hard look at my thoughts throughout the day, the willingness to try doing things I felt uncomfortable doing in the past in the hope of a better life. You know what? It worked. Not immediately. But over months and years I became happier and happier. I still don't have a great car but I love it. It gets me where I want to go and it has heated seats! I no longer eat foods I hate. I found healthy foods that I enjoy and eat them everyday. I no longer think in lack when it comes to the money needed to pay our bills. I started thinking in abundance and found that money was coming to me in ways I never considered. I started to believe in my happiness and was willing to do what it took to help it along.

If you still aren't happy, I wonder, are you really trying? You say you are and you may even think you are but what are you doing to change your life? I'm obviously not talking to people who have recently suffered the loss of a loved one or has teenagers...they can be rough. But if your life is status quo then what are you doing to improve it? Anything? You have to come to a decision. That you are willing to do what it takes to make your life better and bring more happiness for yourself. You have to try things you've never tried before in order to have things you've never had before. It's your decision. You are the only one who can make it happen. And yes, you have to be willing to do some work and try new things.

I have been reading self help/personal growth books my whole life. They always motivated me while I was reading them but I rarely did the exercises they suggested. I wouldn't do affirmations because that made me feel silly. I didn't want to feel uncomfortable or do anything different than I had already been doing. Yet I expected different results for my life. Doesn't that sound ridiculous? If you want something different you have to do something different. Once I got to my 82 self help book I realized that most of them suggested doing similar things. Maybe there was something to what they were all saying. Maybe I would have to put in a little work and feel silly a bit. Once you decide to go all in and be willing to do what it takes to make yourself happier things will start to change. I promise you. But you will have to dig deep and figure out what is stopping you. Is it just laziness or are you afraid to confront something from your past? Only you can answer those questions. But you have to start doing something. Or else no one can help you.

If you have time to watch hours of t-v every night then you have time to work on yourself. Have you decided? Because we are going all in. We are starting from the beginning to work on the life we have always dreamed of. I hope you'll come along for the ride!

Happy hump day! Go out there and be badass today. I'm always here, cheering you on!
